MLAW Announces 2026 Legislative Agenda

In November, advocates, legislators and leaders of organizations, legislators, attended MLAW's conference to identify potential initiatives for the next Maryland General Assembly, which opens on Jan. 14. After hearing about 21 bills, MLAW members selected 10 top priorities that make up the official 2026 Legislative Agenda.  


The issues selected are listed below and described in more detail here


The bills selected are: 

  • Stop Silencing Survivors
  • Protection of Students from Sexual Exploitation in Schools
  • Family and Law Enforcement Protection Act
  • Protection of Identity of Victim of Sexual Assault
  • Prescription Privacy Protection Act for Abortion Medication
  • Comprehensive Rehabilitative Prerelease Services-Female Incarcerated Individuals (The Monica Cooper Prerelease Act)
  • Coerced Debt Bill
  • The Maryland Reproductive Justice and Pregnancy Outcome Protection Act
  • Timing of Hearings between TPO and FPO, and Relief for Financial Loss
  • ICE Enforcement Activities (title TBD)
