MLAW Officially Launches 2026 Legislative Agenda

The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc., Prince George's County Maryland Chapter is a longstanding supporter of the Maryland Legislative Agenda for Women. 

MLAW held its annual legislative briefing on Feb. 3, 2026 to officially launch the 2026 legislative agenda and discuss the bills the organization will support this year.

The agenda consists of the following bills: 

  1. HB 329/SB 81 ▪ Criminal Law – School Resource Officers – Prohibition on Sexual Activity with Students
  2. HB 465/SB 295 ▪ Civil Actions – Immunity – Disclosure of Allegations of Sexually Assaultive Behavior (Stop Silencing Survivors Act)
  3. HB 450/SB 294 ▪ Criminal Procedure – Protection of Identity of Victim of Sexual Assault or Stalking
  4. HB 83/SB 20 ▪ Family and Law Enforcement Protection Act
  5. HB ___/SB 187 ▪ Comprehensive Rehabilitative Prerelease Services – Female Incarcerated Individuals
  6. HB 497/SB 433 ▪ Family Law – Temporary and Final Protective Orders – Duration and Relief
  7. HB ___/SB ___ ▪ Coerced Debt Bill
  8. HB ___/SB___ ▪ The Maryland Reproductive Justice and Pregnancy Outcome Protection Act
  9. HB 444/SB 245 ▪ Public Safety – Immigration and Enforcement Agreements – Prohibition

In November, advocates, legislators and leaders of organizations, legislators, attended MLAW's conference to identify potential initiatives for the next Maryland General Assembly. After hearing about 21 bills, MLAW members selected a set of priorities.
